Today students and adults alike today at BreakThru 2011 have just been reminded that we are adopted by the Father at a great price. We are no longer a slave of Ephesus, but rather we are sons and daughters of the King with a new name: Christians. As hard as it can be to remember at times, it is no less true because of our forgetfulness! God’s desire for us to be in His family is unwavering. Need a good reminder? Read Ephesians 2. Because of His Word, there is no doubt!

In an extreme move of generosity, NAIL BENDERS has taken on the job of building bunk beds for BreakThru Ministries’ camp Timber Creek. Timber Creek has added a new building to expand its sleeping capacity and options. We, as a ministry, want to thank all the men and women who graciously gave of their time to turn a trailer full of lumber into 16 bunks. It is our prayer that the thousands who will sleep in these bunks will do so having had an encounter with the living God while at camp. For more information on Nail Benders and C.B.M.I. contact us at 601.536.2130.

There have been so many tweets and posts already about the holiday in the past 24 hours, but I believe we can never remind one another enough to be thankful for what He has done for us! While we were still His enemy, he died for us. Perhaps the most amazing thing about how He loves us is that even in light of the biggest gift He ever could have given us- He continues to bless us daily. Try this: Write down a list of things you are thankful for in your life. This is a very Biblical way to begin to turn your heart toward praise. David made it a habit! Flip open to the Psalms. You’ll see what I mean.

It is a question all of us have asked at one time or another. I think this is what God has for me, but HOW DO I KNOW for sure? What am I seeking with this plan? Is it for me? Is it for others? This article from RELEVANTMAGAZINE.COM shares an interesting and unfortunately not very popular answer to the above questions. I believe we must join in the fight that is currently raging in the American Christian culture. We have been hearing for years that we should be operating within our gifting because this is the only way we will be the most effective for the Kingdom. I have always only had one problem with this propaganda… I can’t find it in the Bible! The overwhelming Biblical evidence points to the fact that God calls us often to do things that are outside of our gift-set. Moses was a stuttering murder called to speak to Pharaoh and lead a nation out of captivity. Gideon was a man mostly afraid of outside threats. Not a man that was looking to lead others into war with “too few” people. Paul had very different plans and ideas of using his “gifts” when he was called by God on the road that day. Could it be that God is calling us to begin with acts of humility and as a result make HIM famous?

It is language that is familiar to those who attended BTSR 2010, but I wanted to send out the question, “Where are you sitting?” David encouraged us almost a year ago to not give up our spot at the KING”S TABLE for a spot at the other tables we put up in our lives. I have to admit, this has been much harder to do in November than it was in January! Something about the passing of time that make us forget many of the lessons that God has taught us. If you are anything like me in this, I want you to know that we are not alone. The faith-history of the nation of Israel shows us that forgetfulness is a common problem since the fall of man. Maybe that is why the Bible talks so much about remembering. Here is something that might help us all. Let’s take some time in the next 24 hours to remember what God has done for us and called us to do in the past year. If you are away, it’s time to make your way back to the table. If you haven’t left your seat, it just might be time to taste and see that the Lord is good again. Hang in there. Know that God is always preparing a place for you!

We are not here by chance. Your time is now to be the man or woman God has called you to be. We do stand on the shoulders of giants, and those giants expect us to get out there and do something!

It’s one of the most amazing things about Christianity. There are so many who have gone before us, and I don’t just mean the people we read about in the Bible. Men and women since the days after the resurrection of Christ have done their best to understand that live the Christian life. It is a common refrain from the unbeliever, “You only believe what you do because your parents did.” EXACTLY. Next time you have a minute or two, find a Bible and look up the word GENERATION. You will be very surprised by what you find. Psalm 33 says, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.”

We are only here because of those who have gone before us. This has always been God’s plan. It will always be God’s plan. We should, then, be very cautious of those who are always telling us they have a new this or a new that. We stand on one point in the timeline of history. Unless we pay close attention to the voices of the past, we do not have the ability to obtain the proper perspective on the movement of God from generation to generation.

So, take some time this week and go find something written by an old guy. I can guarantee you will be ministered to as you feel your peripheral Christian vision began to expand to parts previously unseen.
